Girls’ Soccer Falls to Sheehan on Late Goal

Looking to get their first win of the season the Branford Hornets girls’ soccer team came up short losing 2 – 1 on a header by Sheehan’s Samantha Larkin that evaded goaltender Nina Grabowiecki with a minute left to play in the game.

The low-scoring game finished 1 – 0 at the half with Sheehan leading. Branford tied it up when co-captain Taylor Brown {pictured) scored with 10 minutes left.

Onto the next game today, a home game against Foran today at 3:45 p.m. Here are Co-captains Taylor Brown (left), Wyntre Fries, Katherine Spaulding with coach Jen Kohut.

The Hornets started the season the week before with a 1 – 1 tie against North Haven.

After the Sheehan loss they fell to Mercy 2 – 0 before getting their only win to date, 6 – 1 over Hamden.

This week they fell to Guilford 2 – 1 and tied West Haven on Saturday, 0 – 0. The Hornets’ record is now 1 – 3‑2.
