Holiday Greetings From The Eagle Newsroom

Holiday greetings from all of us at the Branford Eagle. We hope you are enjoying the holidays and looking forward to 2015. We certainly are!

In 2014, we were honored to be named the Advocate’s Best Hyperlocal News site in the New Haven area.

The Branford Eagle also won 17 awards at the Connecticut Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) annual excellence awards contest. We won top awards for spot news, in-depth, investigative and photography reporting, among others.

As professional journalists, we take great pleasure to know you support our mission.

Our contributing reporters, Sally E. Bahner, the former editor of the Branford Review and her former top reporter, Diana Stricker have decades of professional newspaper experience. Stricker came to Connecticut from Pennsylvania where for nearly two decades she was a reporter for daily newspapers. Marcia Chambers, our editor, has been a reporter for The New York Times, the AP and the National Law Journal. She is also a longtime golf writer. Mary Johnson, our photojournalist, has provided readers with stunning photo coverage. Bill O’Brien, our newest addition, is covering high school sports for us and is doing a terrific job.

Please consider making a tax-deductible donation this holiday season to keep our newsroom going. Please send your contribution in the amount you can afford to: Online Journalism Project, P.O Box 2067, Short Beach Station, Branford, CT. 06405. Checks should be made out to the Online Journalism Project.

Our readers tell us they want the kind of professional coverage that they have come to expect and rely upon. As you know, we are part of the New Haven Independent and are a non-profit entity. Your support is greatly appreciated.
