Adele Murray

Adele Murray affectionately known as Duke” and Granny” was born January 23, 1920 to the late Vandy and Dessie Thomas in Orangeburg County, SC. She was the second born of six children. She attended school in Orangeburg County School District but was unable to complete her education as she was needed to rear her siblings. Adele was a member of Maloney Baptist Church in SC. She later changed her membership to True Light Deliverance Center. Adele met and married the late, James Golden in October, 1935. James predeceased her in 1952. She later remarried Isaac Murray and was married for 52 years. She leaves to cherish her memory; children, Dessie Scott (Colie), Kenneth Murray, Pamela Jeffcoat and Charlene West-Rigsbee (David); sisters, Edith Zeigler and Claretha McCutcheon (Lawrence); One Brother-In-Law Jacob Murray (Maude), and Sister-In-Law Georgia Chatman, and 11 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Mid-State Medical Center for the exemplary care provided to Adele. A celebration of her life will take place Wednesday December 1, 2010 at 3:00 PM at the Howard K.
