Audrey Denise Holmes, 55, of Foxon Hills Rd. entered eternal rest March 19, 2014 at St. Raphael’s Hospital.
She was born to Willie A. and Addie S. Holmes August 18, 1958 in New Haven Connecticut. Ms. Holmes graduated from Northeastern University in 1980 and became involved in many different organizations such as the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. and a former member of the NANBPWC, Inc. In 2009, She retired from the State of Connecticut as a parole officer after 28 years of service. She was an active member of Community Baptist Church where she served as a dedicated trustee and usher. She was also an EMS Board Member. She was well known as an avid golfer whose favorite hobbies were sports, traveling, and shopping. She leaves to cherish her memory; loving mother and father, Willie and Addie Holmes of West Haven; brother, Wendell Oliver Holmes (Marie) of MD; sister, Yolanda Holmes of West Haven; nephews, Andrae and Canaan; aunts, Maxine Morris of New Haven, Pauline Edwards of MI, Viola Homes of NYC, Mable Holmes of VA, Geraldine Mingo of NC; great aunt, Amy King of MI; 2 god sons; and a host of cousins, sorors, and friends. A celebration of her life will take place Thursday, March 27, 2014 at 11am at Community Baptist Church, 143 Shelton Ave., New Haven, CT 06511. Friends may call at the church Thursday from 9 – 10am. Organization ceremonies, including “Ivy Beyond the Wall,” presented by the sorority and the Ushers Memorial Ceremony will take place between 10 – 10:45am. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
