Carrol Jenise Moye, 54

After a gradual decline in health, Carrol Jenise Moye, age 54, went home to be with the Lord the morning of September 12, 2010. She was surrounded and supported by her loving family and friends during her last days. Carrol was born in Florence, AL on April 24, 1956 and was the daughter of George Washington Hurt, Jr. and Ernestine Virginia Reid Hurt.

She accepted Christ as her personal savior during her adolescent years. She united with Union Temple Free Will Baptist Church where she served for over 30 years. She was an active member of Springs of Life-Giving Waters under Pastor William L. Mathis for the last 7 years.

She received most of her education from the New Haven Public School system; however, she graduated in 1973 from Paul Muir High School in Pasadena, CA. Carrol returned to New Haven, CT in 1974. She worked for Bradlees Department store for 25 years until its closing in 2001. Since 1995 she has been providing support services to individuals with developmental disabilities. For the last 13 years she has provided these services with Hart United where she became the House Manager of Victory House Group Home.

Her love for family and friends was exhibited through her social interactions. Carrol was one of the founding committee members of the CT Chapter Mills Family Reunion for 25 years. She was also an acting founding member of US Social Club since 1990.

Carrol is survived by her husband, David; three children: Keeva Scrivner (Jeff), LaKeya, and David Jr.; one grandchild: Aiyana Shaw; one brother, Bruce Hurt of California; two sisters, Sherri Davis of New Jersey and Eva Dawn Cooper of Tennessee; sisters-in law Shelly Hurt, Priscilla Sweeny, Diane Frasier, Sharon Cain-Moye and Dorothy Moye; brothers-in-law Ronald Moye Sr., Rossie Moye and Marion Frasier; three uncles Frank (Saphronia), Raymond (Gerry) and Maurice (Jean) Hurt; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving relatives and numerous friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother George Hurt III of California, grandparents George Hurt Sr., Francis Hurt, Lee Reid and Ruby Hurt and aunt Bernice Jean Jones all of Tennessee.

A celebration of Mrs. Moye’s life and legacy will be held Friday, September 17, 2010, at 11:00 AM at Agape Christian Center, 90 Goffe St., New Haven. Viewing and visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 – 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Beaverdale Memorial Park. Professional services entrusted to Curvin K.
