Effie J. Dunlap, 72, born on April 21, 1943 in Dumas, AR to the late Charlie and Bertha Stokes, Sr. passed away April 23, 2015.
Effie was gainfully employed at SNET for 25 years. She loved to shop, cook, listen to Gospel music and watch old time movies. She will be remembered for serving religious and community organizations. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 49 years Lionel T. Dunlap, Sr.; daughter, Karen L. Copeland of NJ (son-in-law Rodney Sr., deceased); son, Lionel T. (Simone) Dunlap Jr. of West Haven; brothers, Charlie Jr. (Patricia) of West Haven, Vernon (Elizabeth) of New Haven and Wardell Stokes (Beverly) of NM; sisters, Elizabeth Bert of West Haven and Bertha Holden of New Haven; 4 grandchildren, Rodney Jr., Toryn, Chandler, Charissa and a host of other loving relatives and friends. She is predeceased by her brothers; Robert, Vernell, David Stokes and her sister Bernice Salters; brothers ‑in-law, Walter Bert and Bishop Ivory Holden. A celebration of her life will take place Friday, May 1, 2015 at 11 AM at The New Trinity Temple COGIC; 285 Dixwell Avenue, New Haven, CT, Bishop Charles H.
