Elkanah W. Pitter, 88, of New Haven, departed this life October 18, 2010.
Born in Jamaica, West Indies, May 18, 1922, he was the son of the late James and Maudriana Pitter.
Mr. Pitter was employed for numerous years at Yale-New Haven Hospital as a Patient Transporter.
He is survived by a brother, Francis of Jamaica; nieces, Eugennie and Beatrice Pitter; nephews, Stanley Pitter (Gloria), Ivan Griffiths (Elaine); and Apton Folkes (Gloria); a host of great nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
A celebration of Mr. Pitter’s life will be held Saturday, October 30, 2010, at 10:00 AM at Curvin K. Council Funeral Home, 128 Dwight St., New Haven. Burial will be private. Online guestbook available at www.curvinkcouncil.com
