Hezzie J. Young, 92, born on May 6, 1922 in Newberry, S.C to the late Jerry Young and Cora (Farrow) Young, passed away January 2, 2015 at Connecticut Hospice.
Hezzie will be remembered as a Veteran in the United States Air Force and for his work as a truck driver after leaving the military. In his downtime he enjoyed playing checkers and was an avid hunter. He was a member of Glorified Deliverance Center Church for over 20 years where he led the church choir. Prior to his membership at Glorified Deliverance, he was a member of Christ Chapel New Testament Church, New Haven where he sang in the prison ministry.
He leaves to cherish his memory loving wife of 67 years Margaret Young, sons Joseph Young of New Haven and Mark Davis of Northford, daughters; Queen Cables and Glenda Sherrod of West Haven, Joyce Davis (Pastor Elijah Davis) of New Haven, Sandra E. Young (Otha Buffaloe) and Phyllis Young of Hamden, 19 brothers and sisters, 24 grandchildren, 66 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren, 3 God children, and a host of relatives and friends.
A celebration of his life will take place Thursday, January 8, 2015 at 11 AM at Glorified Deliverance Center Church; 604 Dixwell Avenue New Haven, with visitation Thursday at the church from 9 – 11 AM.
