Josephine A. Tavaris, 92, born on November 19, 1922 to the late Wiley Pearson and Olivia (Tribbett) Pearson, passed away March 28, 2015.
Josephine will be remembered for her caring and giving personality, she could be seen visiting the sick or volunteering in the local soup kitchen on a given day. Because of her volunteering efforts she was the recipient of a volunteer award. She leaves to cherish her memory loving son Leroy Tavaris Jr., 2 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. She is predeceased by husband Leroy Tavaris Sr., brothers Herbert and James Pearson and sisters Alice Lyndsey, Viola Pearson, and Mary Pearson. A mass of Christian burial will take place Monday April 6, 2015 at 10 AM at St. Martin De Porres; 136 Dixwell Ave., New Haven with visitation Monday at the church from 9 – 10 AM.
