Leroy R. Walton

The loving son of Rhoda Bailey and birth mother Marilyn Walton went to sing in the heavenly choir on April 7, 2016. 

Leroy was educated in the Hamden public school system and was a senior at Western Connecticut State University. Leroy loved all things New York, acting and theater production. Leroy was an active member of the Actors Union. Most recently he was employed by the Downtown Cabaret Theater as box office manager. Leroy performed in leading roles at Western including the smash hit You Can’t Take it With You”. Leroy lived that philosophy to the fullest enjoying his many adventures both foreign and domestic during his 22 years. He enjoyed being on stage performing and serving as the Production Stage Manager for the Connecticut Free Shakespeare Theater. Most recently he was employed for the New Haven Arts and Ideas during the summers. Pursuing his dream of acting and performing took him all over the United States. Leroy was a free spirit with a larger than life personality. 

Leroy is survived by his loving mothers Rhoda Bailey, his birth mother Marilyn Walton, his sisters Belinda Ross (New Haven), Ahisha Ross (Virginia), his aunts Dawn Bailey (Ray), New Haven, Priscilla Stancil (Gino), NC, Robyneanne Bailey, New Haven, Annette Ross, (New Haven), Gladys Walton, Hamden. His uncles; Leroy Bailey, New Haven, Melvin Walton (Sandra), Virginia and Jack Walton New Haven.

Howard K. Hill is in charge of the services; Thursday, April 14, 2016. Family Prayer begins at 6 pm at Christian Tabernacle Baptist Church, 435 Newhall St., Hamden. Home going services will be held at Beulah Heights, 782 Orchard St., New Haven. Viewing will be from 9 – 11 and Celebration of life begins at 11:00 am. Interment at Beaverdale Cemetery immediately following service. A repast for family and friends will be at Beulah Heights.
