Mary Pugh

Mary Otelia Pugh, 64, of New Haven, departed this life January 23, 2010. She was the beloved wife of Alonzo Pugh for 44 years.

Born in Littleton, NC, May 7, 1945, she was a daughter of the late George C. and Ellen Bert Brinkley.

Mrs. Pugh was employed at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft for 43 years.

She was a faithful member of St. Matthew’s UFWB Church where she was a member of the 8AM Ensemble Choir.

In addition to her loving husband, she leaves to cherish her memory, sisters, Velma Celestine Brinkley and Viola Elizabeth Williams (Harvey); brothers, George Wilson Brinkley (Daisy), Frank Thomas Brinkley (Dorothy), Johnnie Lynwood Brinkley (Shirley), Robert Lewis Brinkley (Karen), Waverly Elijah Brinkley, Alonzo Rayfield Brinkley (Shelley) and Andrew Calvin Brinkley (Doris); her mother in-law, Lossie B. Pugh; sister in-law, Patricia Brinkley; five stepbrothers; a stepsister; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was predeceased by her stepmother, Celia Brinkley and a brother, William Henry Brinkley.

A celebration of Mrs. Pugh’s life and legacy will be held Thursday, January 28, 2010, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Matthew’s UFWB Church, 400 Dixwell Ave., New Haven. Viewing and visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 – 11:00 A.M. Burial will be in Beaverdale Memorial Park. Professional services entrusted to Curvin K.
