Oscar N. Aiken, 74

Oscar N. Aiken passed away peacefully on March 31, 2016.

He was born on January 20, 1942 to the late Oscar N. and Mary Francis (Anderson) Aiken, Sr. Oscar worked for United Technologies Norden Systems and Northrop Grumman Airspace as an engineer and retired after 35 years of service, also was on the Board of Harrison Tucker School. He enjoyed helping Special Ed children, coaching football, and track and field. He also enjoyed being with his family. Oscar leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Patsy (Laboone) Aiken; two sons, Michael Aiken of Hamden and Keith Aiken of NC; three brothers, Edwin, Robert and Reginald Aiken all of DC; two sisters, Doris (James) Barber of New Haven, Charlotte (the late Carl) Thompson of DC; sister-in-law’s Harriet Holmes of New Britain (Charles) and Joyce Benson of Rockford, IL (Charles); brother-in-law’s Jimmy (Dee) LaBoone of New Haven and Frank Dawson of New Britain; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, 2 aunts, 1 uncle and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his daughter, Darlene Lawon Morton; brother, Albert Aiken; sister, Shirley Whitmire (Paul). A Celebration of life will take place on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at Mt. Zion 7th Day Adventist Church, 64 Marlboro St., Hamden, CT. Viewing will be from 9 – 11AM. Internment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery 769 Ella T.
