Robert Jermaine Tyson, 40

Robert Jermaine Tyson, 40, passed away Dec. 2, 2017.

He was born in New Haven to Gwendolyn Tyson on June 24, 1977. Rob was a 2001 graduate of Wheaton College and a 2008 graduate of the Connecticut Police Academy. He was a sergeant with the Department of Motor Vehicles and previously worked as a gym teacher at Amistad Academy.

Besides his mother, Robert leaves to cherish his memory, fiancé, Andrea Grilo; brother, Darryl Tyson; sister, Jamie Tyson; godbrother Scott Huckaby; nieces, Emani Johnson and Royal Tyson; grandmother, Lillian Tyson; godmother, Niecy Ashe; and a host of relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his loving mentor, Richard Kaliszewski.

A celebration of his life will take place Friday 11 a.m. at The New Trinity Temple C.O.G.I.C., 285 Dixwell Ave, New Haven, CT 06511. Friends may call Friday at the church from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Interment will be at Beaverdale Memorial Park, New Haven.
