Rosalee G. Howard, 76

Rosalee G. Howard, 76, a lifelong resident of New Haven, entered into eternal rest on November 29, 2015 after a long illness.

She was predeceased by her parents, James Groom and Annie Tillie, as well as her elder brother, Earl (Duke) Groom. Rosalee worked as a Paralegal for New Haven Legal Assistance for more than 30 years. She was a strong community advocate and her work allowed her to help people in need. She had a gifted voice and sang from an early age. She enjoyed singing in church as well as professionally in the community. She leaves to cherish her memory; sons Keith Groom of New Haven and James (Abdullah Shakur) Howard of Meriden; daughters Medria Givens of New Haven and Kent Givens of Meriden; brother James Groom, Jr. of NC; sister Vernell Daniels of NYC; 6 grandchildren; 1 great grandson and a host of family and friends. A Celebration of her life will take place on Friday December 4, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Christian Tabernacle Baptist Church; 425 Newhall Street, Hamden, CT 06517 with visitation on Friday at the church from 10:00 – 11:00 AM.
