Thomas “T.C.” Calvin Bennett Sr. died November 15, 2010 at the Grimes Health Center in New Haven after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He leaves behind to cherish his memories, his loving wife of 46 years Mary Higgins-Bennett. Thomas was born in Cheraw, SC on June 16, 1938. He was a life long resident of New Haven, CT. Thomas took part in many successful business ventures through his lifetime. He was most recently employed for several years, at The Jewish Home For the Aged in New Haven from where he retired. His greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with his family and friends. Besides his wife, he leaves behind his sons, Tyrus (Tabitha) Bennett, Thomas Bennett Muhammad Jr. (Billette), Timothy (Tonya) Bennett and one daughter, Teresa (Sayvojee) Bennett-Allen. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and various relatives and friends who loved him dearly. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was predeceased by his parents, Tomiacenia and Eugene Bennett. Thomas attended Muhammad’s Mosque in Bridgeport. A celebration of his life will take place on Saturday November 20, 2010 9AM at Howard K. Hill Funeral Services, 1287 Chapel Street, New Haven, CT. Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from 8 – 9AM. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
