Virginia Marangell, 88

Virginia J. Marangell, 88, of New Haven, a local author of novels and short stories, passed away Jan. 29, 2013 in Yale New Haven Hospital.

She was the widow of Joseph Marangell. Born in New Haven July 8, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Henry Enoch Johnson and Hope Johnson Smibert. Mrs. Marangell was a parishioner of St. Aedan’s Church and was a member of the Italian American Historical Society of CT. as well as several book clubs. She is survived by two grandsons, Joseph and Gregory Marangell, both of Hamden. She was predeceased by her son, Joseph Patrick Marangell and twin sons, Ronald Lynn and Randall Lee Marangell; a step son, Frank Marangell; and two brothers, Robert and Richard Johnson. Funeral from The Celentano Funeral Home, 424 Elm St. (cor. Dwight) New Haven Thursday morning at 9:30. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Aedan’s Church at 10:00. Friends may call at the funeral home prior to the funeral from 8:30 to 9:30. Interment in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
