Born on May 24, 1941, in Decatur, Mississippi, Willie’s journey of 82 years took him from his Southern roots to his final days in New Haven, Connecticut, where he peacefully passed away due to natural causes.

Willie was a man of integrity and warmth, whose friendly demeanor and wise counsel touched the lives of many. He was the beloved husband of the late Lena H. Dunnigan, a partnership that was a testament to enduring love and mutual respect. He was preceded in death by his cherished parents, mother, Willie Mae, and father, Ollie Joe Dunnigan.

Willie’s legacy is carried forward by his proud children, Joesph, Sherman, and Barry L. Dunnigan, who will continue to honor their father’s teachings and generous spirit. He will be missed by his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

For many years, Willie dedicated his talents to Pratt & Whitney, where his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence were evident to all who worked alongside him. Even after retiring, Willie’s industrious nature never waned. He was always found fixing or improving something, whether it was on his day off or not. His passion for staying active was reflected in his love for dancing, a hobby that brought him and others great joy.

Willie’s home was a testament to his handiness and willingness to help others. He took pride in helping build his garage, a task that showcased his skill and determination. His love for the outdoors was apparent in his meticulous yard work, and his fascination with cars and joy in cutting down trees were hobbies that he pursued with enthusiasm.

Willie’s life was one of purpose and joy, and his impact on those around him was profound. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness and a blueprint for a life well-lived. His memory will be cherished, and his life celebrated by all who were fortunate enough to know him. Willie’s presence was a comforting and stabilizing force, and his absence would leave a void that cannot be filled.

As we say goodbye to Willie Joe Dunnigan, we hold tight to the memories and the lessons he imparted. His story is one of love, hard work, and the importance of family and community. Willie’s journey may have come to a close, but his spirit will continue to inspire and guide us for generations to come.
