That someone, Fitch Ratings, announced in a July 26 report that the credit rating agency has bumped Hamden’s outlook from “negative” up to “stable.”

After two months of hand wringing and debate concerning how to rearrange student busing schedules in a last-minute move to stay within the lines of a level budget, the Board of Education voted Tuesday night to keep school start and dismissal times the same as last year — in hopes that the town will indeed steer extra funding their way.

When I went on my latest rounds monitoring local osprey nests, I was relieved to find the ospreys still here. The mother ospreys were guarding their nests. The fathers were out looking for the fish that make up their entire diet. The heads of some of the recently hatched osprey chicks were starting to become visible above the sides of the nest.
