Buy A Book For LEAP

LEAP

The following was submitted by LEAP.

When holiday shoppers complete their purchases at Barnes & Noble in North Haven they also will be given the opportunity to buy books for LEAP children.

So far, almost 700 books have been donated. This initiative, thought up by longtime LEAP volunteer Judy Clark, ends on Christmas Eve.

There is no better gift than a book for a family member or loved one, and no better way to support a child than by sharing your love of reading.

This project with Barnes & Noble is part of LEAP’s effort to help children build home libraries to support family literacy. We know that children who read for fun, wind up loving reading and become lifelong readers. Kids with books at home read more, and become stronger readers, writers, and communicators.

That is why LEAP is working to collect more than 6,000 books through various efforts during the year to help each LEAP child add up to 12 books to their home libraries. So, if you have some holiday shopping still to do, head on down to Barnes & Noble at 470 Universal Drive in North Haven by Christmas Eve. And, be sure to give the gift of reading to a New Haven child!
