As New Haven Promise prepares to dispatch its first CollegeCorps crew to knock on students’ doors this weekend, the program is looking for more volunteers.

CollegeCorps members like longtime classroom aide Patricia Robinson (pictured) will go door-to-door to talk to families of kids who have signed up to pursue a college scholarship called New Haven Promise. Read more about the effort here.

CollegeCorps’ first door-knocking mission will take place in Dixwell and Newhallville on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Volunteers are asked to attend a training session on Wednesday, June 22 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Community Outreach Center/Senior Center at 654 Orchard St.

CollegeCorps will also canvass Fair Haven in July (trainings to be held on July 14 and 16; canvass on July 23); Dwight/West River in August (training on Aug. 16 and 18; canvass on Aug. 27); Hill North and Hill South in September (training on Sept. 14 and 15; canvass on Sept. 24).
