City police found the dead body of a 19-year-old in the parking lot of Career High School on Sunday morning following an apparent fatal overdose.

According to Police Chief Karl Jacobson, officers responded to a call about a body in the Legion Avenue public high school’s parking lot at 9:27 a.m. Sunday.

Officers and a medical examiner responded and found the body of a 19-year-old who had suffered from a suspected drug overdose.” The medical examiner found no suspicious marks or issues” upon an initial examination, Jacobson said.

Jacobson and New Haven Public Schools (NHPS) spokesperson Justin Harmon both said that, to the best of their knowledge, the person found dead in Career’s parking lot on Sunday was not affiliated with the school. Harmon also said that there were no summer school programs taking place at the school at the time as none take place on Sundays.
