City: Hey, Artists!

Want to fill an abandoned storefront or shop window with your artwork? The city Department of Art, Culture & Tourism is calling your name.

The department has issued a call for artists and creative entrepreneurs to participate in Project Storefronts and a newly created program called VIEWseum: Look, Learn, Shop!

Project Storefronts provides temporary space in vacant storefronts for people to test their business ideas. Entrepreneurs get a chance to see if their business is viable, and the city has fewer empty retail spaces around town.

VIEWseum, the new program, provides artists with a store window to display an art installation. Selected artists are also given an opportunity to hold workshops and sell their wares.

The city is accepting applications from artists working in all mediums. Click here to download and application. Click here for more information.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, with deadlines for each season:

• For Summer (June ‑August) enrollment, applications must be submitted in April-May
• For Fall (September- November) enrollment, applications must be submitted in July-August
• For Winter (December-February) enrollment, applications must be submitted in October-November
• For Spring (March ‑May) enrollment, applications must be submitted in January-February
