There is no question that you are complicit in the next 'turn' in development in this town.

To put things very clearly to everybody reading this forum:

The City of New Haven is a 'small town' of 135k people, divided into small 'ethnic plots'

YALE UNIVERSITY is multi-national 'non-profit' corporation with a $40+ Billion dollar endowment.
(the size of the GNP of a mid sized country like KAZAKHSTAN, with 19 million people!)

There are approximately 130,000 living YALE ALUMNI!
Then there is a population a students and Yale professionals dug deep in our community.
The idea of real community is 'effed'!

Add in the weird VENN DIAGRAM of politicoes, connected 'professionals', and local ambitionists...
which digs deep into both the Black & Jewish communities, and you start to see some of the problems we really need to overcome here in this small town.

It's easy to say support for a ceasefire in Gaza simplifies a complex issue when one fails to articulate the complexity. That is unless the complexity of which he speaks is taking a moral stance that will upset some voters without whom he can't win re-election.

American politicians have been needlessly sacrificing or supporting the sacrifice of human lives for the sake of power and position for centuries. Elicker is no different.

Disagree with Justin on this one. You can support a ceasefire AND be pro-Israel. You can support a ceasefire and acknowledge the complexity of the conflict. Supporting a ceasefire simply acknowledges that Israel's bombing campaign does nothing to advance real peace or security for either Israelis or Palestinians. Endless bombing won't end this conflict - only prolong it. A negotiated political agreement that allows Palestinians and Israelis to live in freedom and safety side-by-side is our only hope for peace.

The Mayor should ask.Why did the U.S. vetoed a Gaza cease-fire resolution in the U.N. Security Council?

The mayor of New Havens job is to run the city and serve the people who live and work in the city.
He has NO control or say over what the US government does in regards to the Israel Gaza conflict.

Where were these protestors when Hamas went into Israel and murdered innocent civilians? When babies were being beheaded, woman raped, and Israelis burned alive? Where were these protestors when Biden took terror groups off the terror list? Why are these protestors calling for a cease fire from only Israel, yet not a word about Hamas using Palestinians as human shields and using hospitals and schools as cover for terror activities. Why aren't these protestors calling for the prosecution of UNWRA employees who helped Hamas slaughter Israelis? Yes Mayor, this war is very complex. But one thing isn't, the right for Jews to exist in Israel and anywhere else they choose to live. Israel has a right to defend their country, all people who live there, and destroy Hamas. Unfortunately innocent people will die in a war. Another Holocaust was attempted in Israel. Another Holocaust shall not happen.
And to the BOA, hear the resolution in committee, and then give it 'leave to withdraw without prejudice.'

Where's the evidence? Remember, weapons of mass destruction...did not happen.
Hamas is largely the creation of the Zionist regime, financed by them, supported by Israel and backed by the US with CIA reinforcements, used as a tool to divide and conquer.

Another creator of Hamas is the genocide and imprisonment of the Palestinian people for the past 75 plus years.

Were innocent Palestinians committing atrocities against Israel? No! Stop the genocide!
