The Freddy Fixer Parade is coming back, with a newly announced step off” time of 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 4.

The Elm City Freddy Fixer Parade Committee’s Board of Directors — including Diane X. Brown, Jacqueline Glover, and Petisia Adger — made that announcement in an email press release sent out Thursday afternoon.

The press release states that the parade, one of the city’s premier Black community events, will begin this year at 1:30 p.m. on June 4 at the intersection of Dixwell Avenue and Bassett Street.

This marks the longstanding Newhallville and Dixwell parade’s first full return since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. Thursday’s release also says that this latest iteration of the parade has been spearheaded by the committee’s newly installed officers, President Chanelle Goldson and Vice President Tracey Joseph.

Chanelle and Tracey are both experienced certified human resource professionals and have vested ties in our community,” the email release continues. Together, this talented pair’s commitment to the celebration of Black-American heritage and cultural expression through visual and performance arts, will be the impetus that conveys the story of our history that we want told for many generations to come.”
