A fire at a two-family house in the Hill displaced six adults and three children, with no injuries reported at this time.

Fire Chief John Alston told the Independent that that fire took place Wednesday morning at 207 Spring St.

It’s a difficult time,” Alston said. It’s warm out here, high humidity. They [the responding city firefighters] did a fantastic job in knocking the fire down.”

City spokesperson Gage Frank said that two people, one neighbor and one occupant of the two-and-a-half story residential building, called in the fire at around 10:33 a.m., and that firefighters responded at 10:37 a.m.

Alston said city firefighters had the blaze under control by 11:06.

The fire chief said that the Red Cross has been notified about the nine displaced tenants. He said the fire is currently under investigation.

They did a tremendous job,” he reiterated about the firefighters working through such warm and heavy conditions as they responded to an active blaze.
