Firefighters extinguished a two-alarm blaze that damaged a house on Starr Street Friday morning.
The two-and-half-story house, which has been under construction, was unoccupied when the call came in around 8:30 a.m., according to Assistant Fire Chief Ralph Black.
No one got hurt in the fire except possibly for a firefighter who went to the hospital to be checked out after reporting feeling nausea, Black said.
The premises were “pretty wide open,” so the fire did significant damage on the first and second floors, Black said. It also caused some damage to the top story.
Black said the fire marshal’s office is investigating the blaze, which appears to have been accidental.
