Gone Dishin’ For Fun(ds)

john%20and%20catherine%20crawford.jpgIt is impossible to attend more than two, or possibly three, events per school night”, but there is always that opportunity during the months of September and October. Every agency, organization and institution reaches out to friends and family” before the threats of early darkness and hazardous driving conditions arrive and the snowbirds” depart. Each year, the search for creative venues becomes more imperative in the quest to attract the greatest number of possible supporters and donors.

The New Haven Museum and Historical Society served as an additional enticement to those who gathered to celebrate one of greater New Haven’s most well-respected couples. John J. and Catherine C. Crawford (pictured) were presented with the 2007 Alexander DeToqueville Award . Surrounded by top donors from the United Way of Greater New Haven’s Alexis De Toqueville Society and Leadership Circle, the board of directors and friends, the couple was applauded for their enormous contributions. Catherine has been a volunteer docent for the Yale Center for British Art’s school tours and also dedicates herself to children in foster care through the process of adoption. John has served almost every philanthropic agency in the area, including the boards of Albertus Magnus, Hospital of St Raphael, Guilford Interfaith Housing, Community Foundation.

A former CEO of the Regional Water Authority, John also lends his skills to The Regional Growth Partnership. He is very committed to the St.Martin de Porres Academy. Locally grown and educated, the Crawfords have been together in their love for each other and for their community since childhood.
