Ghost Gun Gets You $250

A ghost gun will get you $250. So will a sawed-off shotgun.

You can make that deal — safely — at the police department’s latest gun buy-back

The buy-back is scheduled to take place at the police training academy at 710 Sherman Parkway Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Anyone can bring unwanted and unsecured guns” and exchange them for cash.

The gun buyback is 100 percent anonymous, no questions asked, and it will take place in a safe and secure location. Guns must be delivered unloaded in clear plastic bags, and any ammunition must be delivered in a separate bag. The person dropping off the gun will not be charged with illegal possession of that specific firearm,” police spokesperson Officer Scott Shumway stated in a press release.

The buyback will also feature help for owners who want to keep their guns but store them more safely.

The goal is to prevent guns from falling into the wrong hands, such as those of children, suicidal people, perpetrators of domestic violence, and criminals,” Shumway stated.

The city partners with group called Swords to Plowshares to convert the collected weapons into gardening tools.

Shumway listed the payouts participants can expect Saturday for various weapons:

• Rifles, Shotguns or Derringer-type guns — $50

• Handguns (Revolvers & Pistols) — $150

• Ghost Guns, Assault Rifles, and Sawed-Off Shotguns — $250

• B.B. Guns — $10
