Red-state laws effectively banning abortion might be bad news for women seeking to terminate pregnancies — but could they be good news for Connecticut’s economy?
Yes, if Gov. Ned Lamont’s latest pitch bears fruit.
Lamont made the pitch in a video released Friday. He addressed it to business owners “thinking about making a move” away from “states like Texas which our outlawing women’s right to choose.”
The pitch: Connecticut doesn’t have much “oil or natural gas.” But unlike those anti-choice red states, we have one of “best trained, most innovative workforces in the world” with “more women participating in our workforce than just about anywhere else.”
Connecticut has expanded day care, institute (employee-paid) family and medical leave. It has kept “schools open with low infection rates.” And abortion will remain legal here.
So “give me a call,” Lamont urged red-state employers: Let’s talk about relocating your business to Connecticut.

Frankly, one can stay in Texas and fly out of state to have 10 abortions per year and it would still be cheaper than living in tax-obsessed, high cost of living CT….. probably could even splurge for first-class.
