Yes, yes, yes. Appoint Dr Tracey as the permanent superintendent. She's doing a phenomenal job.

We just held a tele-conference meeting to check-in with each other, to check on the students and families and staff, and to address specifically this breaking news item. We voted unanimously to support the Board's consideration to replace Dr. Tracey's title from "Interim Superintendent" to full Superintendent of the New Haven Public Schools for her steady and dedicated, professional and caring leadership of the NHPS, especially during this challenging and stressful time under the COVID-19 emergency conditions. To the NHPS Board Members: please vote for Dr. Iline Tracey to be our permanent Superintendent of Schools without further delay. Respectfully submitted, the PTO executive board of the John C. Daniels School.

Dr. Tracey has worked for this school district in numerous capacities for over four decades. She knows first hand the experiences & responsibilities of teachers, paraprofessionals, counselors, librarians, principals and other administrators. She has served as an assistant superintendent, & now as acting superintendent.
Dr. Tracey has dedicated her life to the New Haven Public Schools & its students. She's committed, invested in this community, well-known throughout the city, highly respected & regarded by educators in this city.
Dr. Tracey is a work-horse, not a show horse. She has decades of training, expertise & experience to be the next superintendent of our schools. Dr. Tracey is no nonsense leader who calls the shots as she sees them. She is honest & forthright, a person of high moral character, integrity, intellect & maturity.
Dr. Tracey applied for this job last time. Unfortunately, that Board's "unorthodox action," as the Register diplomatically called the last highly politicized & very controversial superintendent search, bypassed Dr. Tracey for someone who had absolutely no experience as a superintendent or assistant superintendent.
That kind of unorthodox must NEVER happen again in this city. This Board must not let Dr. Tracey be bypassed again!
Dr. Tracey has proven over the past several months that she can do this job very effectively. There is no need for further searching. There is no need to waste time or money in a long process.
In the midst of a fiscal crisis and a health pandemic, Dr. Tracey has demonstrated a steady head, hand & heart to lead the New Haven Public Schools.
There is no need to look for other "waters" when the clear waters we need are right here!

Dr.Tracy always came to Fair Haven with her quiet smile and her hugs to children and staff .Thats why she can't wait for this terrible virus to be over so she can hug her kids again.She done every job there is to better educate staff and kids and to make schools great.Lets put KIDS FIRST and make her our superintendent.

The saying goes "if it ain't broke..don't try to fix it". In this case it seems as if Dr. Tracey took the helm of a broken school system and she is now in the process of fixing it. Lets stay out of her way and give her the support that she needs as a community. She runs circles around the last few choices for superintendent collectively and she has been a part of this system for years. She was the logical choice two or three superintendents ago, DO NOT waste New Haven's residents taxpayers time or money looking for what we already have. Simply do the right thing!

As a New Haven resident and a parent, I am happy with the way Dr. Tracey have engaged in this new role. I strongly feel that the board should just appoint her because she is doing a great job and is committed to teachers, families and students. Please don't waste our money trying to search for someone,I believe that she is the one. Just appoint her!!!

I met Dr. Tracey decades ago, when she was a graduate student. She's the "real deal," as the saying goes. Hire her!

Dr Tracey is more than deserving of the title and position.
Her respect for others earns her respect in return from parents, subordinates, staff, community leaders and children. It has been many many years since the children young and old of this district have felt the compassion and genuine interest on a personal level from that office. There is no pretense,no double talk. While we all can play monday morning quarter back and question what was done or not done yesterday she has absolutely no problem telling you what she questions doubts or wants to redirect. This is a LEADER in every way. To see her in meetings(virtual or live) is a direct indication that she is in this for all the right reasons!

You're not going to find anyone better qualified than Dr. Tracey to run New Haven's schools. She should have been hired YEARS ago. The lesson here is that the "professional search firms" that the city has traditionally called on to run its searches are not just a waste of money, they are downright harmful and corrupt. It's a shame we can't claw back the severance packages given to the last two clowns.

It's refreshing to see the NHI commentators agreeing about something for once! Dr. Tracey has done a great job so far. She is a committed educator who truly cares about the children but is also working practically to manage the district efficiently. Glad to see the board moving forward on this!

Competent and compassionate, the NHPS leadership team hasn't seen that in a number of years. Please make the right decision this time and appoint Dr. Tracey as superintendent.

I feel like the single most important property for a candidate is deep experience within the system. We have many, many, highly qualified educators when you think about a system with thousands of professionals with New Haven classroom experience, and that should have always been priority number one for the search committee.

Hire and promote from within!

Everything I've heard about how the department of education has been handling things under her supervision has been positive. Especially how she has handled the schools under this pandemic, which must have been the greatest challenge to anyone in her position.

She should be appointed superintendent. However, she should assign someone to proofread her letter and emails. I've been disturbed by the grammatical errors and spelling errors, but not as disturbed as I was seeing Mike Pence flout the face mask rules.

The application/selection process really has been trial by fire! It's been good to have a steady person like Dr. Tracey leading us through. You don't ever have to second-guess her motives or commitment to the kids, families and staff.

I hope that Dr. Tracey will make changes with at least one of the assistance superintendents. Keisha Hannans has got to go, especially since NHPS got rid of Birks and Birks appointed Hannans. Keisha has no trust nor confidence from teachers nor administrators. She carried a big stick under Birks and she turned her back on her colleagues, as well as Dr. Tracey. It is time to give Keisha her walking papers and replace that position with someone who is qualified and respected. Justin Elicker I voted for you because you were going to make changes. The change in leadership for NHPS is in need of change. Dr. Tracey should be able to select her own team that she trusts.

Seems like the right, and popular choice. However, she's being put into an impossible situation that will likely change public sentiment rather quickly. I hope people are able to see that she's being put into a no win position. That's why those, who usually make the decision on their own, are looking to the public to endorse her. That way they can deflect the blame when things inevitably go wrong.

I wholeheartedly vote yes to appoint Dr. Tracey as Superintendent of New Haven Public Schools. She has the ability and the passion to move the district forward. She has always been committed to NHPS and the students, staff, and families she serves. She accepted the position as Interim Superintendent during a very difficult time, but she has demonstrated in various ways that she is up for the test. She has not let the various challenges that come with budgetary constraints, politics, or even the Coronavirus Pandemic overshadow the need to give our students the best education possible. She continues to do the hard work to ensure that students, families, and staff receive the best treatment possible, and have their needs met. Her transparency, her willingness to make bold but meaningful decisions, and her ability to hold everyone employed by NHPS including herself to high standards, is what makes her the only candidate for the position.
