The Branford Lady Hornets basketball team didn’t help their chances to get to this year’s state tournament, losing to Sacred Heart Academy 63 – 55 at the James L. MacVeigh Alumni Athletic Complex on Friday.
{The loss was the fourth in a row, dropping their record to 4 – 8 with eight regular season games remaining. They will have to win four of the eight to qualify.

Others scoring for the Hornets were freshman Karly King with 6, Victoria Raffone and Gabriella Piscitelli with 5 each and junior Autumn McHenry with 4. McHenry also was strong under the boards picking up a number of rebounds. Here McHenry grabs a loose rebound for Branford

The Hornets outscored SHA 16 – 14 in the third quarter to go into the 4th quarter down by only four points but they couldn’t get any closer losing by the final score of 63 – 55. Here junior Victoria Raffone guards SHA’s Ally Kirck
Branford has two home games this week with games on Thursday against North Branford and on Friday against Wilbur Cross. Two wins would help get the Hornets back on track to qualify for the end- of- season state tournament. Here freshman Karly King leaps to block a pass
