A 30-year-old New Haven man was pronounced dead at Yale-New Haven Hospital after being shot multiple times early Thanksgiving morning.
ShotSpotter, the computer program that alerts cops to gunfire, detected several gunshots on Cherry Ann Street at 3:12 am, according to police spokesman Officer David Hartman.
Cherry Ann straddles the New Haven-Hamden border. Police arrived to find Dyrail Martaye Reddick there, shot, on the New Haven side of the street.
Hartman stated in a release that police suspect the man was shot following an argument in the parking lot of the 112 Cherry Ann St. apartment complex.
“Officers from the Southern Connecticut State University Campus Police spotted a red Accura, thought to have been involved. The [driver] fled from them and crashed into a tree on Whalley Avenue at Whittlsey. Two of the car’s occupants fled on foot and one was detained,” Hartman reported.
“That car and another found parked at the Slice Pizza Restaurant in Hamden, have been towed by police and will undergo forensic processing. The involvement of those cars in this case is uncertain.”
