Man Sought In Bathroom Shooting

The shooting took place at 1:02 am on May 3 inside Nikkita Restaurant at 200 Crown St.

The victim, a 38-year-old New Haven man, told police that an unknown man burst into the restroom, brandished a gun, and ordered him to give up his chain. The victim refused and instead punched the aggressor in the face. The man with the gun then shot him in the stomach.

The individual seen in the attached photograph was at the restaurant when the incident occurred,” police wrote in a statement Friday. We are asking for assistance from the public and anyone with information that would lead to the identity of this individual please contact the New Haven Police Department at 946‑6304.”

In other news, according to police:

Two men were arrested for allegedly robbing a man in Wooster Square at 7:44 p.m. Thursday at St. John and Chestnut Streets. The victim told police he was on his cell phone in a park when he was surrounded by four teens. They began roughing him up and stole his cell phone, iPod, and money.” The suspects fled. Yale and city police arrested two juveniles in connection to the incident.

A delivery driver from Roma Pizza reported being robbed with a gun at 10:39 p.m. Thursday at 32 Market St. in Fair Haven. When the driver got to that address, the caller told him to go around the rear of the building to get in. When he did, the victim was attacked by two subjects who, at gunpoint, stole the food and some cash.

A teenage male was arrested shortly after midnight Friday at 233 Blatchley Ave. for discharging a gun, trespassing and carrying a pistol without a permit. Cops caught him after a foot pursuit.

Cops found a car holding up traffic at Orchard and Edgewood at 6:43 p.m. Thursday. An officer stopped the car in a parking lot. The occupant refused orders to stop moving around inside the car.” Cops found a gun and half an ounce of marijuana on his person. The man, age 23, was arrested for drug and driving charges as well as for interfering with cops.
