Michelle Duprey Takes On New Challenge At City Hall

Deputy Corporation Counsel Michelle Duprey.

Michelle Duprey, who has advocated for disabled people for more than two decades as director of the city’s Department of Services for Persons with Disabilities, has taken on a new role: deputy corporation counsel.

That means she’s one of city government’s top attorneys.

Mayor Justin Elicker swore her in to the post at City Hall Monday morning.

Her integrity, keen attention to detail, and experience make her a perfect fit for the” job, Elicker is quoted as saying in a release issued by his office.

This exciting opportunity demonstrates that those with disabilities can serve in all kinds of jobs in our community, not just those you would normally expect,” Duprey is quoted as saying. This appointment speaks volumes to the broader community on diversity and inclusion without me having to say a word. And for that, I am grateful.”

Duprey has written widely and participated in panel discussions on disabilities-related issues that figure into employment matters handled by the corporation counsel’s office, such as the Americans with Dispabilities Act and barriers for women with disabilities.
