Family Math & Literacy Coming To The Q

The following writeup was submitted by Melissa Liriano, the communications coordinator for Leadership, Education, and Athletics in Partnership, Inc. (LEAP).

Looking for a fun and educational way to spend a Saturday with your family? Look no further than the New Haven Tutoring Initiative’s (NHTI) family math and literacy event! The NHTI is hosting Family Math & Literacy at the Q” on Saturday, November 4th, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Dixwell Community Q” House. This exciting and enriching event is open to all families, especially those with children in grades K‑5. Engage your child’s curiosity with various fun and educational activities to keep the whole family entertained!

Family Math & Literacy at the Q” will be an exciting event that will provide families with a chance to learn new math and literacy skills in a fun and engaging way while supporting their children’s learning at home. Best of all, children will have access to free books and educational resources to help them excel in their education and the chance to win fun prizes! To make it even more exciting, Mayor Justin Elicker will participate in a read-aloud event for the kids!

This event is an excellent opportunity for parents and caregivers to learn how to meet their children’s educational needs and help them improve their math and reading skills.

NHTI is a collaborative effort between the City of New Haven, New Haven Public Schools, and local youth-serving agencies, including United Way of Greater New Haven, New Haven Reads, New Haven Counts, LEAP, Boys & Girls Club of Greater New Haven, New HYTEs, Horizons, Inspired Communities, IRIS, Solar Youth, New Haven YMCA, CPEN, Beulah Heights, Music Haven, Little Scientists, and Auntie Rose Childcare. Together, they provide coordinated opportunities for students to learn critical literacy and math skills, build home libraries, and develop a love of reading and math.

We hope to see you there!
