(Updated Monday 6:49 p.m.) –Hillhouse High School is getting its fourth principal in three years, pending a vote by the Board of Education.
The board voted 7 – 0 Monday night to make Antoine Billy the new principal, on the recommendation of schools Superintendent Madeline Negrón.
Billy starts the job on Feb. 8. The position pays $169,602 a year. He’ll replace Peggy Moore, who took over as principal on an interim basis last August after the departure of Mark Sweeting. Sweeting had taken the principal’s job a year earlier after the departure of Glen Worthy.
“As you know, we have been engaged in the Principal Selection Process for the past 5 months to identify the best suited individual to lead Hillhouse High School” with the help of the school’s SPMT, Negrón wrote in a memo to the Hillhouse community.
Billy started his career teaching math at Wexler Grant School and then moved to Wilbur Cross. In 2017 he became associate principal of New Britain High School.
The Superintendent states that the Central Office worked with the SPMT on the decision to hire Billy. That is really a stretch. He was not the choice of the staff at all.
This shows the complete lack of respect these administrators have for the input of those who truly know.
Sweeting lasted a year; Worthy a little better ; 5 years and the triumvirate of Diah, Daniels and Baker lasted , what 2-3 years.
How long do you give Billy?
