An annual national fundraising event is underway that enables donors to boost local news, and double their dollars in their process.
The event is called “News Match.” It invites people to pick among 300 nonprofit public-interest newsrooms nationwide to support through tax-deductible charitable donations. When you donate, News Match then matches your donation dollar for dollar up to $1,000.
The Independent is one of the 300 newsrooms affiliated with the Institute for Nonprofit News. (In fact, we and Voice of San Diego were the first two of this generation of nonprofit local sites to start back in 2005.)
