New Haven’s interim police chief has put an officer on administrative leave after she was arrested on family violence-related charges.
The officer, who has been on the force for three years, turned herself in to Wallingford police Friday for arrest on a warrant for third-degree assault and disorderly conduct charges. She was released with a promise to appear in court.
The New Haven police have also launched an internal affairs investigation into her case.
This was the second time in a week that a New Haven officer has been arrested on domestic violence charges and placed on administrative leave. Click here to read about the previous case.
We need to remove the stigma and create regular access to mental healthcare support systems for our first responders and require regular mental health checkups to protect their mental health just like you're supposed yo get yearly physicals and dental checkups every six months to prevent missing indicators of an issue.
