The school gym is open — at night. And New Haven teens have some place to go.
In response to rising youth violence, the city government launched an Open Schools program that includes basketball, dance and other activities in the evening in public school gyms across town.
Reel News spoke with City Hall’s point man on the program, Che Dawson, and local coaches and players at theprogram at Beecher School. The gym there is open from 5 to 8 p.m. (through June 13).
