Elm Shakespeare Co. Has New Manager

The Elm Shakespeare Company sent in this information about its new managing director:

The Elm Shakespeare Company is delighted to announce its recent hire of Daniel Fitzmaurice, who will join the Company on October 1st as Managing Director after shadowing current Managing Director, Margaret Andreassi, throughout the summer. Within this role, he will manage all of Elm Shakespeare’s administrative and financial concerns, oversee the day to day management of the Company’s Development and Educational programming, expand the Company’s Marketing and Social Media presence, and assist in producing Elm Shakespeare’s celebrated outdoor summer theatre Festival. I’m thrilled to be joining such a vibrant and vital organization,” said Fitzmaurice. It’s an exciting time to be involved in New Haven’s dynamic arts and education community. Expect a lot from Elm Shakespeare in the next few years!”

A Milford native, Fitzmaurice returns to the New Haven area with his wife, Sarah and two year old son, Jude, after a four year sojourn in Portland, Oregon. His involvement with their bustling non-profit arts scene included developing a startup community center as Chief Operating Officer at St. David of Wales Episcopal Church, Office Manager at the Metropolitan Youth Symphony, and founding the Music Studio on Harrison Hill, a unique music education cooperative dedicated to community collaboration and outreach through music.

The board and staff at Elm Shakespeare are very excited to work with Dan as the Company heads toward its 20th anniversary,” claimed Artistic Director James Andreassi. As a musician, Dan has an artist’s sensibility and an inherent understanding of what it means to work in concert. But Dan also has a soloist’s presence and charisma. His experience and exuberance are just what Elm Shakespeare needs as we head toward our twentieth year of bringing Shakespeare the Greater New Haven community. I look forward to collaborating with him.”

A graduate of Fairfield Prep and Temple University (Bachelor of Music in Education, Magna Cum Laude, 2009), Fitzmaurice has also studied Financial Management for Nonprofit Arts Organizations with Eric Bachrach at UMass/Amherst. Additionally, he has worked in the administration at New Haven’s Neighborhood Music School.
