3 Hospitalized After Sunday Morning Gunfire

Three New Haveners ended up in the hospital Sunday following early morning gun violence.

City police spokesperson Scott Shumway sent out an email press release Monday morning about those shootings.

He wrote that, on Sunday at around 5:01 a.m., New Haven police received a Shotspotter alert about gunfire on Sherman Avenue between Percival Street and Goffe Terrace.

Responding officers found a 32-year-old New Haven man and a 35-year-old New Haven woman who had been shot. An ambulance transported the victims to Yale New Haven Hospital where they were treated for their injuries and are currently in stable condition.”

The Bureau of Identification responded to the scene and collected ballistic evidence. Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit are leading the investigation.

Then, at around 5:38 a.m., city police received a call regarding a person shot on Ferry Street in Fair Haven. 

Responding officers found a 33-year-old New Haven man who had been shot. 

Shotspotter had not alerted in that area and no calls were received for gunfire,” Shumway wrote. The Bureau of Identification responded to Ferry Street and could not locate a crime scene. American Medical Response transported the victim to Yale New Haven Hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.”
