Tesla Driver Dies In 10-Vehicle Crash

A 35-year-old Hamden man died Tuesday morning after driving his Tesla into nine other vehicles on New Haven’s Nicoll Street, police said.

The crash took place near Eagle street at 7:50 a.m., according to a release from New Haven Police Capt. Rose Dell.

The driver, identified as Christopher Andreozzi, was traveling at a high rate of speed” when he crashed into seven parked cars and two others that were in motion, Dell reported.

He was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital, where he died soon after. Two other drivers were treated at the hospital for minor injuries.

The police department’s Crash Reconstruction Team has interviewed witnesses and obtained surveillance video.

The investigation will take some time and will include a mechanical inspection of the Tesla,” Dell reported in the release.
