Thomas McCoy (Mickey) Powers, 80

Thomas McCoy (Mickey) Powers, 80 of Summerville, S.C., entered into eternal rest on October 20, 2015 after years of struggling with various illnesses.

He was born on July 4, 1935 in New Haven, CT son of the late Isaac Thomas Powers and the late Florene Lindsey Powers.
Mickey had one brother, the late William (Bill) Lindsey Powers.
Throughout the years, he held positions in various fields that include, Medical Testing, Veterans Administration, Adolescent Counseling, Telecommunications and his favorite Photography.
Mickey spent a short time in the Army, with an assignment in Korea.
He spent many years traveling and living throughout the U.S., his residences included CT, NY, MD, Washington, DC and finally settling in South Carolina.
In the early seventies, Mickey tried his hand at art, but passionately and continuously pursued hobbies of Photography and Cooking. He and his brother, Bill had the insane pursuit of the hottest sauces they could find.
He always enjoyed a good joke and always thought” he could tell a good joke, no matter what the ailment, he never lost his wit.
Mickey was an outgoing man. He enjoyed listening to all types of music and taking countless photographs. Mickey’s personality will never be forgotten. He leaves to cherish his memory; loving Companion and Caregiver, Eleanor D. Edwards of Summerville, SC; Sons, Bryan L. Edwards of New Haven, CT and Russell S. Edwards of Charlotte, NC; Grandchildren, Austin R. Edwards of New Haven, CT and Myranda K. Edwards of Hamden, CT and a number of relatives from the Powers, Lindsey and Norcott families, as well as, a host of friends throughout the United States.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday November 7, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. ~ 12:30 p.m. at Simplicity Low Country Cremation and Burial Services, located at 7475 Peppermill Pkwy, North Charleston, SC 29418. 
Gathering hours will be Saturday November 7, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. ~ 5:00 p.m. at 9645 Stockport Circle, Summerville, SC 29485.
