46 Quarantine At 4 More Schools

The latest daily total shows seven more reported Covid-19 cases among people at five New Haven pre-K‑5 schools.

The schools are Lincoln Bassett (2), Bishop Woods (1), Benjamin Jepson (1), John Martinez (2), and East Rock (2), Assistant Superintendent Keisha Redd-Hannans reported.

Out of an abundance of caution,” she reported, eight people at Lincoln-Bassett are quarantining, 14 at Bishop Woods, six at Benjamin Jepson, and 18 at John Martinez. (None are quarantining at East Rock.)

To date, the system has reported 41 positive Covid-19 cases since reopening pre-K‑5 schools and some special programs to part-time in-person learning on Jan. 19; 127 people have quarantined.

The Board of Education does not offer details on how many of those people are students, how many staffers.

Redd-Hannans also reported a crime at one school Thursday morning: “[O]ne of our staff members at Roberto Clemente School was held at gun point and the person’s car and other personal belongings were stolen. Our security team is working in collaboration with the New Haven Police Department to investigate this incident and increase security during arrival, dismissal, and throughout the day at the school.”
