Six people were reported shot in four separate incidents Saturday and early Sunday in New Haven and southern Hamden.
The Sunday shooting took place around 2 a.m. Police responded to a call from the Off the Hook club at 940 Dixwell, where they found a 23-year-old man in the parking lot, shot in the leg; and a 27-year-old man lying “in front of the establishment” with a gunshot wound to the chest, according to Hamden police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith. Both victims went to the hospital for treatment.
Gunfire erupted on Route 80/Foxon Boulevard in New Haven at 6:29 p.m. Saturday. Police arrived to find a parked car had been shot at; and a 19-year-old woman shortly thereafter showed up t the hospital with a non-life-threatening bullet wound to the shoulder, according to New Haven police spokesman Capt. Anthony Duff.
“Investigators believe the victim may have been a passenger in a moving vehicle that was fired upon at the time of the reported gunfire,” Duff reported in a release.
Two men were injured in a shooting around Kensington Street and Edgewood Avenue at 8:02 p.m. Saturday: a 21-year-old with a thigh wound, whose condition was described as critical; and a 27-year-old with an ankle wound, whose condition was described as stable.
A 1:50 a.m. shooting at West Ivy Street and Sherman parkway left a 20-year-old male with non-life threatening wounds to the buttocks, leg, and hand, Duff reported.
Police Sunday said it was too early to tell which, if any, of the shootings were related.
