4 Top Neighborhood Cops Reassigned

Congratulations to Lt. Jeff Hoffman, I'm sure this is a big step up to the narcotics division. But who will be our liaison in Morris Cove, Joe Avery?

What's community policing if you don't let top police officers establish connections with the communities they serve?

The East Shore will miss Lt Hoffman. He has done a great job and has been incredibly responsive to the neighbors concerns. Good luck in the new position Jeff.

The Dixwell Neighborhood will greatly miss Lt Duff. Like Roxanne Condon said, he was great at community policing. Whoever comes in his place has some really big shoes to fill!

New Haveners are going to learn that hard working taxpayers are an unsustainable resource, given the current structure and rate of taxation.

Look for these walking beats to be cut within 2 years due to budget constraints.

I do believe that all the mentioned supervisors are very good and should be recognized for good work by getting new assignments. How does a chief vacate positions and not have replacements ready to step in?? . The simple mentorship and briefing of their replacements is vital for community policing to continue. is he making moves just for the move or is their a plan????

By dropping the new District Managers into the game without any transitional break-in time with the previous D.M., is a great disservice to both the new D.M., as well as the folks in the District. It would not take much. In less than one week, the new D.M. could shadow the prior D.M. He/she could meet the residents, business owners, and Management Teams. The departing D.M. could give the new D.M. an overview of the issues facing the District, discuss what methods are being used to address crime, talk about deployment of officers, etc. It would be basic courtesy to have the new D.M. introduced to the District by the one leaving the scene. By not doing these things, the people of the District will surely feel shortchanged and neglected by the new and improved "Community Policing" NHPD.

On a minor note, these D.M.'s who are leaving their areas are being transferred, not promoted. Those who use the term "Promotion" for these "Transfers" diminish both the title of D.M., and the fine work these Supervisors have done, by saying that their new jobs are promotions over what they have been doing.

CONGRATULATIONS LT. JEFF HOFFMAN! Lt. Hoffman was a great asset to the East Shore District and I'm sure will continue his strong leadership to the Narcotics Unit! Lt. Hoffman is a fearless leader and will always put his body on the line for the benefit of the community.

Here it is Friday afternoon and the NHPD Community Policing Show is still without four District Managers. District 8 (FairHaven) has been without their D.M. (Casanova), or any replacement, for three weeks. But, do not despair citizens of those neighborhoods, the NHPD says they are getting back into the Community Policing Business.

A great example of their new and improved Community Policing dedicated service is Chief Limon taking a meeting with a very important political figure, along with the District Manager, and the political figure's constituents. When the meeting was over, the District Manager was told to come up with an Operational Plan for the District; it seems the political figure was not satisfied with the police presence in his neighborhood. I guess Hensgen should sh#*can all the Crime Statistic Software and just take direction from the politicians on where to deploy the cops.

So, Alderpersons and very important people who have an in with King John, come see the new Chief and he will take your advice on how to deploy cops in your neighborhood. Unless you happen to represent Police Districts 6, 8, 9, or 10. You don't have a District Manager to draw up your Operational Plan. But, be sure the four new D.M.'s will hit the ground running, once they are finally named. No one to show them the ropes and make introductions, but they'll figure it out. Unless they have a scheduled vacation; then they'll see you in September..
