Regina Lilly-Warner, who worked for 30 years to spread the love of music among public schoolkids, passed away Monday.

Lilly-Warner served as the supervisor of music for the New Haven Public Schools until she retired in 2009. Her retirement capped a 32-year career with the district, where she served as a music teacher, guidance counselor and music coordinator.

Lilly-Warner is survived by her husband, Charles Warner, and their three children. Charles Warner retired in 2010 after serving over 30 years in the public school district as well.

Regina was a passionate educator who served the District for over 30 years,” said schools Superintendent Reginald Mayo in a press statement.

Her energy and dedication dramatically increased music education in our schools, as well as the number of students exposed to music programming. Regina’s commitment to the education of our children is inspirational and her contributions to our community will be remembered by the many lives that she touched.”
