Alders Meeting Moves Online

Members of the public will be able to watch a live-stream of Monday night’s full Board of Alders meeting via an online video-conferencing application, now that City Hall has been closed to the public indefinitely because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Click here to watch tonight’s regular bimonthly meeting of the local legislature. The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. The alders will be meeting in their usual gathering place on the second floor of City Hall.

That space, just like the rest of the city government building at 165 Church St., is now closed to the public after Mayor Justin Elicker issued a state of emergency Sunday afternoon in an attempt to limit the spread of COVID-19

Gov. Ned Lamont waived the state’s open meeting laws on Saturday, thereby allowing public meetings to bar members of the public from attending so long as they provide some kind of live online video access.
