Alexion Expands In New Haven

Alexion Pharmaceuticals, which pulled its headquarters out of New Haven in 2017 after receiving millions in government breaks ($28 million of which it returned), is now adding some jobs back to its 100 College St. tower.

The company is investing $10 million in its Global Product Development Lab.

This expansion is intended to increase the company’s capacity and capabilities to advance the development of more early medicine candidates from pre-clinical studies into in clinical studies. It will also support ongoing efforts to develop new medicine delivery systems to improve patients’ treatment experiences,” the company stated in this release.

It said the expansion, scheduled for completion in 2020, will offer opportunity” for local and regional contractors” and for qualified scientists and contractors.”

Alexion’s expansion of its New Haven laboratory signifies progress in our state’s bioscience industry and an opportunity to grow good paying, high quality jobs here,” a separate release quoted Gov. Ned Lamont as saying.
