Bernie Sanders understands that our trade policy and our government have been hijacked by an oligarchy who have bought both parties and completely staked their fortune and loyalties on globalized banks and corporations with zero loyalty to our country and our national interest. Their takeover of Washington is extremely radical, but our country can be taken back by the citizens under inspiration of a leader like Bernie Sanders, who is independent of the globalized financial oligarchy now running Washington. HRC and most of the Republicans and much of the Democrats are all part of that purchased corrupt establishment corporatists puppetry. The socialist aspects of Bernie's program have become necessary due to the obscene concentration of power and wealth to the very top of the economy (the 1%), but it is his rejection of the Free Trade treaties that will really bring back our industries and our sovereignty. And it his rejection of coin-operated government that will bring back our republic. In that sense I feel quite CONSERVATIVE and AMERICAN supporting Bernie Sanders!

I will be there!!! And the math shows he can still win! Obama's number was lower than Sander's at this point in the primary's....and we all know he prevailed. We can do it!!!!!!!

Just in time to lose another state to Hillary here in the Deep South, which obviously doesn't count.

Just think about it...

The voters of NY city and the state of New York, the home of wall street, overwhelmingly rejected Sanders revolutionary idea to tax wall street for his unrealistic, idealistic, propaganda to finance free education, medicare for all, $15 minimum wage in one jump, revise the tax code to tax the rich. All of this while failing to recognize he starts with a 19Trillion debt held by the Saudis and China. It is time for you all to Get real!!!

Sanders visceral position challenging the 1% always made his candidacy a long shot. If we can maintain and build long term the movement he has unleashed - and we must - we have already won. For those of us who still don't like monarchy, it's a good thing that George Washington didn't call it quits at Valley Forge.

Sen Sanders won the entire state of New York minus NYC and Albany. Sec Clinton needed a plus ten % win to avoid embarrassment and on paper she got there; however if you give to Sanders the estimated 125,000 people turned away at the polls because of draconian party preregistration, her win drops to @8%. Not great for a former senator.

The NY Republican and Democratic rules are not draconian party preregistration requirements, there are election cycles every two years where unregistered, in party, people can change their registration. Bernie is full aware of these requirements since he has a residence in both Vermont and New York. If the people of New York or indeed CT. do not like the present rules they can petition their government to change party registration rules and/or petition the delegates to the conventions to apply such a change to the party rules. If Sanders had won the primary, registration question would be moot as of your writing.

Not so. According to the NY times article you cite, Sanders won Albany, Clinton won the more populated big cities, Syracuse, Rochester, Buffalo, and all of NY city. More importantly, the vote difference is 290,614. A 17 % margin, not 10% as you indicate.

Regarding HRC's NY "victory," while it seems true that her total margin of votes was higher than those purged from the Dem voter lists, it is also true that unaffiliated voters (almost 2.5 million in Nov 2015, according to the NY Sec of State) were not allowed to vote in the NY primary. Bernie Sanders has even higher support among unaffiliated voters than among those registered as Dem. In New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Michigan, and Wisconsin, Sanders won between 66 and 73 percent of independent voters. And so although closed primary rules and early deadlines for changing registration to the Dem party did help HRC in NY (and some other states), it also makes the NY primary a distorted and ultimately inaccurate gauge of who New Yorkers support for the Dem nomination and for the President of the USA.

A. By virtue of The final total vote count there is an accurate gauge of who New Yorkers support.

Except i didn't write that Sen Clinton got 10%; I wrote that getting above 10% was a goal. Give Sanders the 100s of thousands of voters turned away at the polls and Sen Clintons lead dwindles to single digits.

On the subject of registration, that so called bastion of liberalism that is New York has the most restrictive registration rules in the nation and democrats must register 9 months before a primary; that's just top down party obstructionism plain and simple.

As you'll see in my previous link, none other that the mayor of the city of New York and the comptroller both disagree with you and think that the election has been tainted by restrictive registration and possibly even fraudulent voter purges.

Does this mean the New Haven taxpayers get stuck with Police expenses as with Freddie the Fixer or does the campaign pay its own costs?

Hi Walt, you ask a good question.

I'm not a campaign staffer or New Haven city employee, so I can't answer directly about this rally. But the New Haven Register on Tuesday (April 19) reported that ""The city provided [to the Sanders campaign] additional information about costs and other logistics...." which presumably means the Bernie campaign will pay the costs, as it has for rallies elsewhere.
